Delivery service Deliveroo gets an injection of $ 275 million. A large portion of the capital goes to the kitchen division Roobox. Roobox is a mobile kitchen service for restaurants where the can prepare meals for the delivery service. Dutch regional manager Philip Padberg says that by building more kitchens in different parts of the city Deliveroo expands its reach to new districts.
The raised capital of $ 275 million (Series E) is by venture investors: General Catalyst, Bridgepoint, DTS Global and Greenoaks Capital. In June 2014 Deliveroo raised $2,75 million (series A) from Index Ventures , Hoxton Ventures, JamJar Invesments and a few angel investors. In Jan 2015 (series B) it raised $ 25 million from Accel, Hummingbird Ventures, Index Ventures and Hoxton Ventures. Series C injection was in july 2015 where Deliveroo raised another $ 70 million from Greenoaks Capital, Index Ventures, Accel and Hoxton Ventures. The forth funding that year was in November 2015 (Series D) where Deliveroo secured another $ 100 million from DST Global, Accel, Greenoaks Capital and Hummingbird Ventures. In total Deliveroo raised a total of $ 475 million to date.
According to Deliveroo the company has grown 400% this year and it announced that it has made and expansion beyond the markets Europe, Asia, The Middle East and Australia. According to this press release the online delivery company is now active in 13 countries and 54 cities.
